Star Theatre Arts aims to equip the students with life skills via the performing arts and of course having fun.
The main objectives for students are:
Confidence building - that speaks for itself
Being part of a team - being a soloist is lovely, but working within a group is essential.
Encouraging creativity, imagination and self expression, within a safe and controlled environment.
Saturday Sessions
This is a work shop style session where all performance mediums come together to present a full show.
The students work as part of the team to study dance, singing and drama - the main ingredients of most performance - and learn the value of being a vital component of the show process.
Each session will start with a dance, singing and drama warm up designed to gently introduce the students to each discipline and teach the fundamental basics required for correct breathing, vocal and body control.
Dance styles will vary depending on the era of the show being worked on, but the warm up is structured and set to some great music.
Don't worry if you haven't danced before, the warm up is easy to follow and changes each term, giving you plenty of time to get used to it.
We will piece together routines each week from the chosen show, to go towards our end of term production.
Drama and singing concentrate on vocal production, to produce the best quality of sound possible and learn professional techniques to look after the vocal chords. Learn how to combat nerves and develop your voice whether speaking or singing in a chorus & enjoy just taking part, or perhaps aiming for a solo.
Drama characterisation, script work and improvisation are all covered in the working process that involves being in a production. They are explored through drama games that bond the group (especially during the first few sessions) and are designed to gain confidence whilst enjoying the work.
Anything is possible with our imagination!
These are also life skills that will stand the student in good stead when the time comes for interviews, presentations and making speeches.
Confidence and know how are the key!
